Matroos

As a matroos you carry out various activities based on your experience and knowledge. These are the same as those of a light sailor, with the difference that you carry out the work independently. You can become a matroos with or without completed professional training. Without education you must be at least 19 years old. Moreover, you must have experience. This means that you must have a sailing time of at least three years as a member of the deck crew in inland navigation or at least one year in inland shipping (supplemented with two years of seagoing, coastal or fishing). The quickest way to become a matroos is to follow a training course for the profession.
